When Amy was 18, she received eight scholarships to begin her formal composition studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia’s most highly respected music institutions.
Amy graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2008 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Composition. Since then, Amy has received further industry training and has been hand-picked for many intensive composition programs and professional mentorships. Amy has been offered numerous scholarships to study her Masters in Music at the Royal Academy of Music (London), the Royal College of Music (London), the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London) and at New York University, but declined them all. Why? Amy is a strong advocate of music education (she teaches from her studio and partakes in film music training courses) but believes the best way to be successful at what you do is to get out there and do! Nevertheless, her qualifications listed below are impressive.
New York University and The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Film Scoring Workshop, 2014
New York University (Steinhardt), New York
Amy was awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend the 2014 NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in New York.
The 2014 NYU/ASCAP Foundation Film Scoring Workshop is an intensive summer school, educating participants in the rich traditions of classical Hollywood film scoring.
Whilst at the workshop, Amy studied with film composer heavyweights:
– Mark Snow (The X-Files)
– Ira Newborn (Naked Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
– Sean Callery (Homeland, 24, Elementary)
Amy wrote music to a clip from “Bruce Almighty” (starring Jim Carrey) and conducted music she composed for the clip with players from the NY Philharmonic and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. The music was recorded by top tier engineers Paul Geluso and Lawrence Manchester.
